Catching Up...

Yesterday when we decided it was time to pack-up and move back home (even if it meant no hot water for awhile) the boys sobbed. Apparently, staying at Grandma and Grandpa's was a little too much fun :) I don't blame them. I can't compete with the endless supply of junk food grandma provided, the 4 wheeler rides, cousins, whirlpool bath-tub, and the farming.

The one thing G&G don't have...a computer or Internet. Turns out, I have a teeny tiny dependence on the Internet. (I know you're all just gasped with shock) Guess what they're getting for Christmas!?! When I finally logged on this morning, I found I have 388 posts to read...from just 4 days of no computer. But, I couldn't be happier as I sit here in my bathrobe and 4th mug of coffee...feels a little bit like "normal"...as long as I avoid the basement, news and the rest of my tiny-town :)

  3. Grandma and Grandpa's place looks like so much fun for little boys. No wonder they weren't ready to leave.

So sorry for all the loss in your area. For you, it seems to be the time to see the glass as either half empty or half full. In other words, seeing God's blessings in the midst of life's storm or dwelling on the loss only.

I can relate. I have lived in hurricane country. Also, six months after we moved to our current church, it burned to the ground -- six months! It was caused by a lightening strike even though there was a grounded ligthening rod on top of the steeple. My husband lost his entire library - office - to the ashes. No lives were lost and there were no injuries. God was so gracious to give our church peace and harmony in the rebuilding. In all, it helped us to re-examine and adjust our priorities. We can now say that it was a good thing. Something that God used for our good. I pray you will be able to say this, too, in the days to come. I'm praying for you.

  5. Sarah,
I am glad you are ok, it has been one difficult week around here. My neighbor visited your tiny town yesterday and was sharing with me all of the devastation. If there is anything you guys need or your church needs, please let us know. In the meantime, enjoy some "normal".

  6. Life without internet would be really tough! I can see why the boys would be disappointed to leave grandma's house. At least there was some fun for them during all this mess.

I heard more news reports about more rain coming and I feel so helpless. I am truly sorry for your little tiny town.
Glad you are back to a little piece of "normal".
Please know, I am serious, if you need refuge there is a home in KC that is teaming with boys, coffee, internet, and an asian princess who would love to entertain! The door is always open! Literally. I think we are providing A/C for all our neighborhood!
