I'm In

Linda at 2nd Cup of Coffee is hosting this little challenge.  What's the challenge you ask?  To commit to get moving for 30 minutes a day (5 days a week) for the next 2 weeks.   Go on over to her sight to find out more, but the gist is...it starts tomorrow!   TOMORROW.

For the past couple of weeks I've been hobbling around like an old crippled woman...I blame amping up the running and yoga.  The sides of my stomach feel like someone punched me...they are that sore.   I'm doing The Biggest Loser Weight Loss Yoga...it is so stinkin' HARD...and I'm still at level one...if you can even count that, considering I can't even finish the whole 20 minute routine.  BUT, I'm counting Yoga in the challenge, because it's movement...and DANG IT, it's hard.

Did I mention how hard it is?!?  I mean seriously, it looks so easy...but it's HARD.

So very very hard....

So, if you're in, let me know and go over to Linda's and let her know.  Then, in 2 weeks we can all link up and share our stories of pain and suffering...it's good times.

PS - I have that little *sarcasm on the little*  1/2 marathon coming up September 6th.  Technically training doesn't start for a little while, but my running was less than stellar all winter, so I've got to kick up the base mileage...which is kicking my tail right now.  You can also find me wandering around my house saying 13.1 miles...13.1 miles...what was I thinking, what was I thinking...

  1. LOL! I am walking around saying 3.1 (is that what a 5K is?) what am I thinking, especially road running. I do my running on the treadmill and everytime I run on the road I feel like I have been run over by a truck (whatever that feels like?!)...what is up with that??
I applaud you for attempting the 1/2 marathon!

  2. So what you're saying is that yoga dvd wouldn't be a good idea for my poor, injured knee? :P I actually could use this challenge, even if I can't do my usual routines for a bit yet. I can still do some pilates and some easier yoga. I can't believe I am going to say this, but I MISS my workouts!

And I had to give up the goal of doing a 1/2 one day - at least for now. I'm not allowed to run. Silly knee!!

  3. I already go to the gym 4-5 days per week in the morning...does that help me??? No, not really!!!! I am very active and I still struggle with my weight big time! I love that you are doing this challenge! If you have not been moving, you will get motivated!!!

  4. I'm in, too (you know, the whole high school reunion thing). I'm just wondering does cleaning the shower count for those 30 minutes? :) Especially if it's really dirty?

  5. I've been doing a prenatal yoga dvd and when I do downward dog, I look like a downward dork. You are right, yoga is dang hard. But I'm hoping it will help flexibility because running legs=really tight hamstrings.

We should do yoga together sometime. That would be some good laughs.

And I'm telling ya, you will be TOTALLY ready for that 1/2 mary by September. Trust the plan.

  8. Yeah, but the little 13.1 circle bumper sticker on the back of the ol' minivan will be so worth it! :)

  9. Oh, I am so in too...the more accountability I can get the better. I really need to do some kind of pilates or yoga or something - but I know I wouldn't even get past the first 5 min.

  10. Okay, maybe you've shared it in the past but what are you doing to train for your 1/2? I'm up to a 5K without too much moaning and groaning but I wouldn't know where to begin preparing for the other.

And it's not like there is a great variety of 1/2 marathons 'round here. I'd just like to be able to say I did it once. :)))

  13. I'm in! I need something to motivate me. (No 13.1 for me. What WERE you thinking??! ha!) I've never heard of the Biggest Loser Yoga. Where did you find that?

  14. You can't make me do this.

You're going to do a 1/2 marathon? How in the world? I don't understand. I can barely do my 3.1 miles. I can't imagine going any further. More power to you, girl.

  15. I'm doing it too & suddenly thought it began TODAY so I did 30 minutes of Yoga & discovered why people don't do it after eating a bowl of ravioli!!
Be advised to exercise in the morning if possible instead of after dinner! Ha!

  16. Last week on The Biggest Loser they had to do 1/2 marathon for their challenge. Usta!
I'll have to check out that Yoga routine. I bought one yoga dvd, but really didn't like it. Shannon has one I enjoyed too.

  17. I get the idea the yoga routine is hard?! A "mini", wow, I'm impressed. So this 30x5 Challenge should be a breeze, right? Regardless, we can all use a little encouragement and that's why I popped over at Linda's request.

    So here goes:
KEEP IT UP! Go girl. Wooohooo for your willpower. You can do this.

  18. Question: Would this DVD be worth my purchase? I've been looking for a DVD to try Yoga, but there are so many options out there... I've not done yoga before, but I have been doing Pilates for the past year, if that counts for anything (other than the rockin' abs I now have--YES!). :-) Please let me know what you think.
    Merci!
