How Dare They...

Dear McDonald's,

I'm so disappointed in you. Really. It's one thing to lure my children in with a happy meal boasting cheap plastic toys...I'm cool with that. They play with them on the ride home, leave them in the cracks of the mini van seats (along with the remains of their food) and a couple weeks later I locate them, and throw it all out.

No big deal.

But the other night after visiting your establishment (love the quarter pounders by the way) you inserted a Kidz Bop cd in with their food. Thus causing my children to beg and whine to listen to it...thus affecting me. Do you see where I'm going with this?
I gave it a shot. I didn't even recognize any of the pitiful songs until #5. I heard the familiar opening to one of my all time favorite songs....Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. I thought to myself...about time they pick a good one. And that's when it happened. The bleeding from my ears. No one could stop it fast enough. It was too late. Engraved in my brain forever...those voices. How dare you mess with Cyndi Lauper.

How dare you McDonald's. Is it not bad enough that you're(as in I have no responsibility in this *cough*) trying to corrupt my children with your yummy fattening/vein blocking food you now have to slaughter music too?!?
I'm very mad at you. :) I'm probably gonna even stay away from your drive thru for at least a week...or until those evil cd's are gone, whichever comes first.

And one more thing that's been irritating me...seriously, do you really think we're gonna choose sliced apples over french fries?!? Get real.

Sincerely,

The Parsonage Family
.................................................................................................................
Julie: This movie is a right of passage for every American girl...at least for my generation. I will of course make you watch it with me...even if you've already seen it ;)

  3. so true about the apples! FRIES are one of the reasons to GO to McD's- if we wanted an apples we'd stay home, right?

  4. Noooooo!!!!! This even trumps their nasty McCafe products.

  5. LOl!! I needed this laugh today!

fortunately for me, we don't buy happy meals anymore....they wouldn't even suffice as a "snack" for my teenage boys!!

  6. Oh, I am SO with you on the new CD. I was thrilled that it wasn't some cheap plastic toy. Then I popped it in the CD player for the boys. I nearly cried when I heard "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun". Sniff, sniff...what have they done with our precious 80's music?!

  7. I still think Kids Bop is better than Burger Kings "I like square butts" kids meal commerical. (google it, if you haven't seen it.)

At least kids bop is "clean" music.

    Apples, indeed!

  8. Oh, this is funny. The other day my brother-in-law posted this on FB:

"Gee, thanks, McDs. It wasn't enough for you to turn all of our children into obese little beach balls, now you have to instill a love of cr*ppy music in them. Shame on you!"

Apparently his son got the Kidzbop CD too. :)

Believe it or not, my little girl chooses the apples over fries. If I hadn't been present in the delivery room, I'd swear she wasn't mine. :)

  9. Yep, we got one too. HEINOUS.
    I'm a big mac girl though :)

  10. I'm mean. I told my kids the CD's were probably lame, and therefore we didn't need to get one (or three!)

I'm so happy I actually said no to that one!!

  11. You crack me up! And, I completely agree with you. You don't mess with Cyndi Lauper, especially THAT song.

  12. Jedd is a freakishly healthy eater. He almost always asks for WATER at any restaurant no matter which one, and almost always gets apple dippers. He has cried before when they gave him fries instead. I am sure they aren't used to this combo choice and easily forget some kid needed apple dippers. Hmmm... workers probably think I make him eat them too!

  13. Jesse got that cd last week too. I didn't think any of the songs were really kids songs, they just had kids signing them.
He did get the apples, just so I wouldn't be tempted to eat his fries!

  14. Those little voices grate on my nerves like no other. I threw the cd's away, I couldn't stand it any longer.

  15. Amen! Preach it, sister! I couldn't agree with you more. Between the CDs and the abominations that they are marketing as mochas and lattes, I think Mickey D's has lost my business for a while.

  16. I'm with you on the apple slices. But, I do like Miley Cyrus' remake. Hey, I have girls who watch her religiously. Don't judge me. But, I get it ... no one can sound like Cyndi Lauper (although that may be a good thing).

  22. Lauren is an apple girl...I am with the other mom's that insist they saw the birth otherwise would question "maternity" my MIL always marvels how my kids will pick fruit and yogurt over hoho's and junk (yummy junk) like that! Have NO idea where that came from. BTW despise all kidz bop cd's if you wanna hear the song get the real versions!!

  23. That post is so funny! Really...give the kids some fries and a coke! I have friends who give their children apples and milk with nuggets and THEY eat the big hamburger, fries, and coke - how unfair is that!

  24. You are so good at being funny! I loved this. I threw Emmy's cd away, too, but it was by accident. I'm one of those moms who let their kids have the toy right away, and when I saw it was a cd I didn't give it to her. So I forgot and it got tossed in the garbage.
