Never Too Late to Easter

So technically Easter Sunday is long over.  But it was so early this year (I like it later better) let's just pretend it wasn't that long ago.

Plus, I'm a Jesus Lover so every day is pretty much Easter.

Let's just do pictures.

I ordered Lucy's dress from Target online.  I'm having her wear it to a wedding in June too.  Double duty baby.

This is Nelson, laying in the sun with a fleece sweater on...wishing his family would move farther south and out of the cold.

Real life.

Exhausted.  And yes, if you look at the chair in the background, that is indeed Lucy's artwork.  In permanent marker.

Side note:  I FINALLY made it through the entire The Passion of the Christ movie this year.  I bawled a lot, and watched most of it from the other side of the house (because it just seemed more tolerable from farther away) but I did it.  We also had the boys watch it too, because "Jesus died on the cross for our sins" was becoming a kitchy phrase they hear us say all the time and now...not so much.

So thankful for Jesus.

Better Late Than Never...

Here's some random pictures of our Christmas(s).

Just because.

This picture makes me laugh.  It's what happens when I hand the camera to Ben.  At least it proves I was there.

Good Start

Thank you so much for your sweet, encouraging comments on my last post.  It was just what I needed, so thank you for taking the time to write.

New Year's Day is one of my favorite days simply because we can lay around and do nothing and it ends up being lovely.  We spent a lot of the day watching my new favorite show via Netflix, Hart of Dixie.  Seriously, I adore it.  It's kinda quirky like my beloved Gilmore Girls.

I did end up having to make a Target-run to get one of the boys some more cough medicine.  I was amazed at all the stuff that was on clearance.  And by the stuff that was not on clearance.  Of course.

I picked up some new notebooks and a planner.  New Year = New Notebooks.

And shoes on clearance.  I also bought a shirt for $5 but the pic won't load.  I'll try again later...since it's so very important for you to see it.  *cough*

And since I'm stuck in the frozen tundra, a new candle to make it smell tropical.  It's like a $10 vacation.

For supper we tried a new Pinterest recipe for Chicken Tortilla Soup.  It was super.  The kids didn't like it, but what do those Ramen-lovers know anyways?  And as I write this I can't remember how to get Pinterest recipes on here because it's been so long since I blogged regularly.  Add that to my to do list:  Figure stuff out.

Which reminds me...what the heck is Google+ and how/why do I want to use it?  I know I'm in it, I just don't have a clue.  I have lot's to figure out, but looking forward to getting back in the groove.

I'm hoping to join some blog link things in an effort to stay accountable to posting.  I generally hide from those sorts of things...but it you have one that you are a part of and love, then I'd be happy to copy you. ;)

The 4th of July felt like the hottest day in the history of the world.

But, we're small town people, and small town people don't let anything stop them from celebrating the red, white and blue...with sugar.

That's Just Who He Is

We are low-key kinda people.  Me especially.  Father's Day has come and gone, without any tribute (on said blog)  to my dear husband and father of our four kids.  But that's okay, because I have pictures instead.

No need for flowery word pictures by me.  Instead, I have the pictures he took himself, while the boys and I were out shopping for Fathers Day presents.

We left Lucy and Daddy home alone.  No one purposely shops with Lucy.  You know those screaming kids who throw a fit when they don't get what they want?  That. is. her. right. now.  Ugh.  It will pass...hopefully sooner rather than later.

Anyways, while we were away, they made BLT's together and then sat at her new little table and chairs.  Together.  And then Ben took pictures because he knew I would want that moment captured, had I actually been home.

He probably didn't think I'd blog them.  ha.

Real life, real daddy.  Makes my heart smile.

His for Mine

I know technically Easter is a once a year holiday.  But around here, for me, Jesus and the cross...it's a daily thing.  Because what He did, and my faith in that, makes me who I am.  I can't separate from it.

Remembering what He did.  Why He did it.  Where I'd be without His gift...His life for mine.

A faith, and relationship with God...who is very much Alive.

So once a year, we get dressed up extra special for church and we take pictures.  Hunt eggs and gorge on chocolate...but the real celebration of the resurrection is so much more than that one day.

Side note:  Turns out I've been enjoying the Reeses Peanut Butter Eggs almost daily as well...that relationship needs to end...and least that's what my jeans-that-are-too-tight are trying to tell me.

Stuff

I really left you hanging on the mom jeans thing.  My bad.  The good news is, I've been wearing them for two weeks now and I LOVE them.  The denim was kinda itchy/scratchy at first, but after several visits with my washer and dryer (yes I dry my jeans, I don't know how you people can stand wearing air-dried jeans...so stiff) the denim is softening very nicely.  I need to hem them a little, but until then, I've just been cuffing them.
I took the picture below right after my last post, but then I decided the pic was not all that flattering, so I didn't post it.  But apparently today, my vanity is gone, so here you go:

What else...

Oh... my Christmas shopping would almost totally be done if I could afford all of the things in my Amazon shopping cart.  In reality, I've bought like two things.  The rest I just keep adding to the cart and then pray it's still available by the time I get around to placing the order.

On the other hand, I ordered my Christmas cards.  I know.  Snapfish is mailing them as we speak.  Who knows how long it will take me to actually address and mail them, but for now I have NOT procrastinated at least this one thing.  *pat on back*

Yesterday I bought the Wow 2011 Christmas album on itunes.  I justified it to the voice in my head of Dave Ramsey that I needed it because I have lots of sewing projects to get done before Christmas and I need something new to listen to.  The album is so good.  Tell Dave Ramsey you need it too.  My favorite is Deck the Halls by Tenth Ave North.  Not that it matters...but it is. ;)

That's probably enough random information for you to process.

Happy Last Day of November to You!

Easter-ish

I'm late on the Easter post.  Turns out I wrote something pretty dang good back in 2008 so I'm just gonna go with that this year. ;)

On a completely opposite note, I like to get our family picture snapped at church on Easter Sunday.   It's fun...for me.
